and adventure seeker.

Phil Jacobs secondhalfactive colour smil

Qualified to coach you

Hi, I'm Phil, founder and lead coach of secondhalfActive. I am a qualified Personal Trainer and general fitness consultant with a passion to help inspire and motivate  people to keep physically fit, active and strong throughout their lives. I am a REPS registered Personal Trainer and Gym Instructor and I believe in continual learning. In the past twelve months, I have attended performance courses in strength training, speed, agility and Olympic lifting. I also engage the services of strength, cycling, running, tennis and golf coaches to ensure that I have an intimate knowledge and continued learning in many popular sports that my clients participate in. I also try to participate in them all.

I have engaged in strength & conditioning training for around 30 years. I have always enjoyed feeling fit and strong and it has helped me continue to still play most of the sports I love - which is pretty much anything that doesn’t involve a horse!

improve your fitness and sports performance

I'm always looking for a new challenge. I've completed many endurance events, including Ironman New Zealand and the London, Phuket and Noosa Triathlons. I have staggered across the finish line in two London Marathons, swum the length of Lake Bled, crossed the Mekong river from Thailand to Laos and competed in open water swim races in Australia. I've played tennis in the World Corporate Games in Geneva and toured South Africa. I've skied on three continents, surfed badly on four and made over a hundred scuba dives from Australia to the Caribbean, from Indonesia to Egypt.

Most recently my focus has been on cycling. I've cycled across the Pyrenees from the Med to the Atlantic and The Alps from Geneva to Nice. In the past year I've finished the UK ETAPE in under six hours,  ascended Sa Colaba in Majorca in under 40 minutes and climbed over 2100m from sea level to the highest road in Tenerife. Walking is also a passion. Family holidays are often spent in the Lake District, North Wales or the beaches of Devon and Cornwall with my wife, our two boys, and Coco our very active Cocker Spaniel.

My Vision

I believe nature intends us to be outside and active as much as we can.  Our gym has both an internal space and an artificial grass area so whenever possible we are enjoying exercise in the open air.

I find the human body, its physiology, exercise science and movement within sports a fascinating, lifetime journey of exploration. My passion for engaging with the best experts and continuously learning and mastering new skills, enables me to help you in achieving your goals.

I love spending much of my life being active, looking for new adventures and inspiring and supporting others to lead more active lives.
